About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Python engineer who thinks AI-first. You will primarily work on client-facing web projects, building backend services, APIs, and AI-integrated features for US-based clients. This is not a research role; it is a hands-on product engineering role where you ship LLM-powered features, automate workflows, and use AI-assisted development tools to move faster without sacrificing quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and REST/GraphQL APIs for web applications using Python (Django, FastAPI, or Flask).
- Integrate LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Gemini, or open-source models) into production web products, chatbots, RAG pipelines, document processing, intelligent automation, and agentic workflows.
- Use AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar) as a core part of your engineering workflow to improve velocity and code quality.
- Write clean, tested, well-documented code and participate actively in code reviews.
- Work with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis) and design efficient data models.
- Collaborate with frontend engineers, QA, TPMs, and BAs to deliver features on sprint schedules.
- Communicate directly and asynchronously with US-based clients: written updates, Loom walkthroughs, ClickUp comments, and occasional overlap-hour calls (6–8 PM BDT).
- Deploy and monitor applications; contribute to CI/CD pipelines and basic DevOps practices.
- Proactively identify automation opportunities in projects and internal processes.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software development experience with Python in production environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with at least one major Python web framework: Django, FastAPI, or Flask.
- Demonstrable experience integrating LLM APIs or AI/ML services into real products (portfolio or project examples will be requested).
- Solid understanding of relational databases, ORMs, and query optimization.
- Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub), pull requests, and code review culture.
- Working knowledge of Docker and at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
- Excellent written and spoken English — you will communicate directly with US clients and must write clear, professional updates without supervision.
- Strong async communication habits: documenting decisions, giving status updates proactively, and never letting a blocker sit overnight unresolved.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Experience building RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems, vector databases (Pinecone, pgvector, Qdrant), or embedding pipelines.
- Experience with agentic frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, CrewAI) or building custom agent workflows.
- Frontend familiarity (React, Next.js) for full-stack collaboration.
- Experience with Celery, message queues, or background job processing.
- CI/CD pipeline setup (GitHub Actions) and basic infrastructure-as-code.
- Prior experience working with US or international clients across timezones.
- Contributions to open-source projects or a public GitHub portfolio.
